About the Event

Grain to Glass Whisky Experience

The last in our whisky tasting series, where you get to nerd out on the processes behind some of Scotland's most iconic whisky distilleries.

Highland Park 10yo Highball with soda & lemon on arrival.

The six whiskies selected are as followed (in order)

Bruichladdich Classic Laddie

The palate entry is so refined and refreshing, the sweet oak and the barley arriving together sending the taste buds into raptures. The fruits from distillation drift in on an atlantic breeze and pop on the tongue like champagne bubbles. A combination of ripe green fruit, brown sugar and sweet malt bring closure.

Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2012

The texture and mouthfeel for a young whisky is a testament to the slow careful distillation and the quality of the Islay-grown barley. Refined and complex on the palate, the sleekness carries the fruit, cereal, and oak notes in succession as the flavours develop and deepen on the palate. The distillery character – the fruit and floral style are immediate and distinctive. The creaminess and the notes of porridge and rice pudding are malty and rich with brown sugar and dry straw. The fruit notes of pear, melon, and orange wrap around toffee and fudge sweetness, combining beautifully.

Glenrothes 12yo

The 12 year-old is a more floral and delicate proposition than its 10 year-old cousin. Gorse bushes and roses lead to white chocolate and peanuts on the nose with an earthy undertone. It's lighter on the tongue though and morphs into a dessert whisky with peaches, meringue, and vanilla riding that delightful Glenrothes Tootsie Roll taste.

Highland Park 12yo

There is a honeyed, soft maltiness right away, with very nice flavor movement toward a complex melange of wood smoke (like burning oak twigs), heather, citric fruits, and mixed spices.

Port Charlotte 10yo

On the palate there is a noticeable delicacy and softness in texture and style. Again, the balance of flavour is superb as the smoke wraps loosely around the sweetness drawn from deep within the oak. Coconut, vanilla custard, lemon honey combines with smoked oysters and sun baked salty sand.

Octomore (to be announced on the night)

These expressions will showcase the way each distillery features its brands & how they are crafted.

Accompanied with Barrels & Stills fabulous charcuterie and fromage platters.
