About the Event

Jean-Jacques Peyre (jj) from Paradox Wines will join us on the evening to take you through the paired wines. The seven items menu has been set and the seven wines tasted for perfection combination. Enjoy a lovely evening of fine food with friends, and a few tales.

Wines & dishes of the evening:

Champagne Palmer Brut Reserve NV

Palmer Brut Reserve is based on a selection of wines from the best vineyards in the Champagne region. The Premiers and Grands Crus from the Montagne de Reims area predominate and lend their distinctive personality to these wines.

The nose, amazingly clean, is expressed through a rich palette of aromas, including citrus, pear and apricot with some subtle notes of hazelnut and a discreet touch of buttery brioche.

Chateau de Castlenau Picpoul de Pinet

A pale lemon wine with a lovely aromatic and clean bouquet showing perfumes of lime flowers, linden, hawthorn and a touch of lemon curd. Medium bodied with a lovely balance between a crisp green apple and rich, honey and lemon curd characters. Bone dry, mineral and vibrant.

*Paired with Oysters

Le Pavillon du Roy Muscadet de Sevres et Maine

Matured on its lees until bottling, giving it an attractive "prickle" on the palate and nice weight. Clean tasting with crisp mouth-watering acidity and a bright, bone dry minerality and lovely interplays of lime blossom, tangy orange zest and an apple bite. A consistently great producer of this style of white wine made from the Gros Plan grape.

*Paired with Slow-cooked ocean trout, mesclun

Riviera Bistro Rose

A harmonious blend of Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault of which the proportion may change depending on the vintage. This amazing Rosé is supple, combining harmoniously the fruit and the flower for an optimal balance between acidity and fruity. On the nose Riviera Bistro brings delicate aromas, notes of citrus and white flowers.

*Paired with Local prawn, fennel fondue

Domaine Roux Beaujolais

With steadfast attention to detail, Domaine Roux combines valuable traditions with the most advanced technology to produce a vast portfolio of terroir-driven, with an accurate expression of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

Pristine perfume (pot pourri), red fruits, strawberries, fresh cherries, jube, a hint of spice from the carbonic maceration, simple, clean and vibrant.

*Paired with Quail, mushrooms and jus

Chateau La Commanderie St Estephe

The wines from Château La Commanderie are characterised by their splendid, dark colour. The round, powerful bouquet blossoms into a full-bodied mid palate with a fine expression of dark fruit. This is a clean, munchy wine backed by lovely tannins with all the promise of a good cellaring potential.

*Paired with Umami broth, wagyu, marrow and escargot

Elodie Muscat Blanc Moelleux 

Clear and bright yellow colour, Complex and pleasant. Freshness with notes of white flowers jasmine, Verbena, followed by marked notes of apricot, mango and white peaches with a touch of honeysuckle. The palate introduce this intensely fruity but pure, almost crystalline vin moelleux. Made from 100% Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains, it's sumptuously sweet but freshly balanced with a well-balanced acidity.
