Pushing the boundaries of convention with the aim to make a red wine with minimal sulphur, but retain the purity and expression of the grapes and the land. This is a red “alternative wine” from our Finniss River vineyard, located 50 kilometers south of Adelaide on the Fleurieu Peninula. Why do we call “Verve Red” on purpose an “alternative” wine and not a “natural” wine? The reason is that the opposite of a “natural” wine should be an artificial wine. And we do not consider all our classic wines “artificial” wines. Anyway, “The Verve Red” has two faces. The Shiraz dominates the fruit, and the Mataro, with its expressive tannin, provides the structure and adds additional nuances and length.
The colour is crimson-purple; the flavours are dominated with layers of red and black berries, bright and savoury. Subtle fine notes of wild game and ripe tannins you find on the middle palate. A full bodied, racy and complex wine. The bright finish provides freshness and balance.
